Sparks are flying…

happy_new_year_2014_by_duzetdaram-d6zqeqy
One year to remember. 2013 has been a revelation in so many ways. As a band we grew and set the tone to what we want to acclomplish as musicians, We released some of our songs and played our first few gigs. The response to it has been awesome and so it inspired us to keep doing what we do. In our own fashion, the way we love to do it. Thanks to all of you who helped and supported in any way.

2014 will bring more of us than you can imagine and we all hope that you will still be there as our audience. Traditionally on the brink of a new year, from 10 AM people are allowed to light firework. So with big bangs and sparkles in the background, Deep Water Horizon wishes you all a great new year. To us this year was a  lucky thirteen and we hope it will be an even better 2014 for everyone. Let’s all leave the past where it belongs and look forward from where you stand. Keep your eyes and ears open because then next big bang you hear might as well be coming from us, launching new songs.

Take care and stay safe to come rock with us live in 2014.

Looking at their faces while playing our songs, I know this is good. This feels good.

[december 17th, 2013]

One day later after our last rehearsal, the songs are still playing in my head. The setlist is like a rush of images and emotions, passing by as stills. Looking at their faces while playing our songs, I know this is good. This feels good.

We set up our gear, ate some birthdaycake and drank coffee (sounds real badass and rock n roll) and kicked our set of songs into motion. We smoothed out the last wrinkles and played it through for the last time before packing. Upcoming friday it’s showtime on Roesjpop and we do hope lots of people come down to see our show. This time one year earlier, I knew within the first minute of listening to them I would want to be here and be a part of this great group of individuals. It makes me proud to go onstage alongside them and let you all enjoy what we love to do.

On a personal note I would like to add that I gave up making music forgood in 2012. I retired myself from playing in bands and writing songs after hitting rockbottom on several matters. Almost exactly one year later this friday on Roesjpop, we will perform a new song called ‘I will not go under’. The title says it all. As long as you breathe, you can fight. If you need it as bad as you need to breathe you will succeed.

Hope to see you next friday in Guttecoven [NL]

Richard
